ANTON NAJJAR, AREA VP, MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA

Anton Najjar joined Marriott in 1978 as an assistant to the International Controller at Marriott International’s headquarters in Washington D.C. Over the course of his career he has served in numerous capacities, including the opening Director of Finance at the Riyadh Marriott and as the opening General Manager of the Jeddah Marriott Hotel.
In 1994, he was named General Manager of the JW Marriott Dubai. From October 2000 until his recent appointment in July 2002 as Area Vice President for the Middle East and Africa Mr. Najjar was the Vice President for Hotel Development for Marriott in the Middle East and Africa.

   

PAUL MALCOM, REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT SALES & MARKETING, UNITED KINGDOM, IRELAND, MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA

Mr. Malcom presently is the Regional VP – Sales & Marketing, UKIMEA Region. He started his career in 1981 as DOS at Athenaeum Intercontinental Hotel, Athens, Greece and later joined Athens Marriott Hotel in 1983. Over the years, Mr. Malcom has held various positions at different Marriott Hotels in Europe and Egypt. Prior to his present position, he was RVPSM Continental Europe from 1998-2000.

   

BRAD NELSON, VP, CULINARY and CORPORATE CHEF

Bringing 27 years of food and beverage experience, Brad Nelson provides proactive leadership and strategic direction, guidance and planning in the development of seasonal promotions, culinary direction in catering and restaurant concepts. Brad Nelson oversees the culinary strategy for Marriott lodging worldwide, nearly 2,600 hotels in 66 countries. In addition, Brad acts as Marriott’s culinary ambassador responding to current trends and changes in the marketplace.

   

JEAN PAUL NEL, VP OPERATION, UK, MIDDLE EAST, AFRICA AND IRELAND

JP joined Marriott in 1980 as an ID trainee at the Twin Bridges Marriott, then to Key Bridges where he assisted in opening the first and only nouvelle cuisine restaurant at The View. Internationally, he has held positions at the Grosvenor Square Marriott. From London was Amsterdam and then onto the opening of the San Juan Marriott in Puerto Rico. He then moved to Athens as GM in 1996. Since 1999, JP has been in his present positions as RVPOPs for the UKIMEA Region.

 

SCOTT NEUMAYER, SENIOR VP OPERATIONS

Scott is responsible for the overall Rooms Operations, Food & Beverage Operations and the International Quality Assurance Program at International hotels outside the U.S. and Canada. Scott joined Marriott in 1981 as Catering Manager at Marriott's Lincolnshire Resort. His international assignment began in 1992 when he was named Regional Director of Operations for the UK, Latin America, and Asia/Pacific. Prior to this position he was Regional Vice President of Operations for the company's Asia/Pacific Region based in Hong Kong.

   

BRIAN YOST, VP RESTAURANT AND BEVERAGE

Brian’s twelve-year career with Marriott has included a number of roles in both property-based and corporate F&B management. In his present position, Brian heads up restaurant, room service and beverage programming and strategy for Marriott’s global portfolio of hotels.
Previously, Brian has worked in F&B development and hotel operations with Euro Disney (Disneyland Paris), as well as having been Manager of Operations at Walt Disney World’s Pleasure Island.

   

KHALIL ZABOURA, AREA DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, MIDDLE EAST

Khalil Zaboura has worked for Marriott since 1981 when he started as a night auditor at the Amman Marriott Hotel, and climbed the ladder to become a Financial Controller in 1986. He moved to JW Marriott Dubai as an opening DOF in January of 1993 and became Area Director of Finance Middle East and Africa in June 1999. He has been involved in many task force and opening assignment including Doha Qatar in 1989, Singapore, Munich, Frankfurt and others. He also worked for two years with the Fidelio group when Marriott moved from PMS / IDS to Fidelio.

   

ANDREAS WISSDORF, AREA DIRECTOR OPERATIONS, MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA

Prior to joining Marriott, Andreas held various positions in the Hospitality Industry in Germany and Brazil. He joined Marriott in 1996 as Director of Catering at the Frankfurt Marriott, where he got promoted to DFB. In 1999 he joined the Cairo Marriott which has one of the biggest F&B operations in the world. In 2001 Andreas became General Manager of the Alexandria Renaissance Hotel and started the extensive renovation of the hotel. Since last May 2004, Andreas has been in his present positions as ADOPs for the MEA Area

   

INGO MAASS , EXECUTIVE CHEF, JW MARRIOTT DUBAI

Mr. Ingo Maass, presently working as an Executive Chef at JW Marriott, Dubai, is a recipient of several distinguished and outstanding awards. He has around 19 years of experience in the F&B industry having held different positions at Sheraton, Intercontinental, Hyatt Regency etc. His other credentials include conducting cooking shows in TV and Radio, PR activities in Magazines, Books, Functions etc. Further, Mr. Maass is the VP of the Culinary Guild which is a part of the world wide Chefs Association and has been chosen as the Chef of the year for Marriott Worldwide in 2003 and runner up for the year 2002.

   

JUDE HOPKINS, REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF PROCUREMENT

Jude Hopkins began life with Marriott at the Grosvenor Square Marriott Hotel in 1983. In 1986 she transferred to the London Regional Office as Personal Assistant Support to Human Resources and in 1988 she began to work as a support for the Food & Beverage Director Alex Stadlin. Training under Glenn Parker and Ed O’Rourke, Jude assumed the responsibility of Regional Director of International Procurement in 1991. Since then she has been involved in many facets of Marriott International Procurement, including setting International contracts, negotiating Global contracts and being involved in mergers and acquisitions.

 

Donald Gibson, Vice President International Courtyard

Donald joined Marriott in 1983 as the Restaurant Manager at the Windy Hill Courtyard in Atlanta Georgia. This was the first Courtyard hotel to open. In 1984 he moved to the Columbus Georgia Courtyard as Housekeeping Manager, and returned to Windy Hill in 1985 as the Front Desk Manager.
In December of 1985, he opened the Birmingham Alabama Courtyard as General Manager, and went on to open another hotel as GM in 1986 in Brentwood Tennessee. In 1988, he joined the corporate team as Manager of Product Development. In 1990, he moved to the Western Region, where he was Regional Director for Courtyard, responsible for all operations in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. In December of 1994, he was appointed as the Resident Manager at Marriott’s Camelback Inn Resort and Spa.
After 4 years at Camelback Inn, Donald opened the Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains as GM in 1998. Following a brief stint as Regional Director for Fairfield Inn in 1999, he joined the International Operations group as Vice-President of Courtyard International. Donald holds a BA degree from the University of Alabama in Public Relations and Management, and lives in Scottsdale Arizona.

   

Mark French, Director of International Food & Beverage

Mark began his career with Marriott in 1993 as Executive Chef at the New York Marriott Marquis. His most recent position was Regional Director of Food and Beverage at the Northeast Regional Office. Mark has spent considerable time in the hotel and restaurant industry and was awarded Marriott Worldwide Chef of the Year in 1998, Manager of the Year Award at the New York Marriott Marquis and has been a Gold Medal Winner at International Competitions multiple times. Mark works closely with our General Managers, Executive Chefs, Directors of Food and Beverage, and Director’s of Operations as well as our Food and Beverage Department at Corporate Headquarters.

   

Linda Payne, Director, International Guest Satisfaction

Linda is responsible for performance tracking systems which monitor guest satisfaction and retention at International hotels. In addition to the tracking programs she concentrates on research and development of new methodologies, reporting systems, and training. Linda joined Marriott in 1976 and over the years has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in linking guest satisfaction to operational priorities.

   

Gary Kaas, Cluster Director of Training, Marriott Dubai

Since September 2004 Gary has been in his current position of Cluster Director of Training for Marriott Dubai, this contains the 5 brands JW, Renaissance, Courtyard, MEA & MVCI. Previously Gary held the role of Country Training Manager for Marriott Kuwait for 18 months and before that had the dual role of Training Manager at Renaissance London Chancery Court & Marriott Park Lane . Gary is also an IMTN member regulary facilitating Marriott Core Training Programs.

 

Andrew Houghton, Brand Executive, Brand Management, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Inc.

Andrew Houghton graduated from Hotel Management School in Cambridge England, and completed his stagiere in Geneva, Switzerland. He began his career with food & beverage positions in the Churchill Hotel, London, and opened the St Andrews' Old Course Hotel & Golf Resort in Scotland in 1982 as Front Office Manager. In 1984 he consolidated his Scottish golf hotel experience by spending 2 years with Gleneagles Hotels as Sales Manager.

In 1986 Houghton joined the London Marriott Hotel as Director of Sales & Marketing, followed by four years at the Cairo Marriott Hotel, Egypt. He was appointed General Manager Sales, Europe, for Hilton Hotels USA in 1992, and promoted to Resident Manager of the Conrad International in Istanbul, Turkey in 1995.

Houghton rejoined Marriott International in 1998 as General Manager of the Riyadh Marriott, and returned to Cairo in 2000 as the pre-opening General Manger of the JW Marriott Hotel, Cairo. During the lead up to a successful March 2003 opening of the hotel, he operated Mirage City Golf Club, establishing it as Egypt's premier golf operation, and opened the 2000m2 water park, named "The Beach".

   

Anna Mancebo, Vice President, Spa & Retail Services

As Vice President of Spa & Retail Services, Anna drives the strategy for retail and spa retail for all brands and leads the buying for Marriott Hotels & Spas. In addition, Anna is responsible for the Revive Spa Collection global strategy and the emerging on-line sales of Marriott products.

   

Bruno lunghi, Vice President, event management

As Vice President, Event Management, Bruno is responsible for the company’s global event management planning and operations efforts. Bruno is responsible for establishing strategies that support increasing associate and customer satisfaction, improving product quality and the overall event customer experience.

Bruno joined the corporate Food and Beverage team in 1997 with an extensive knowledge in catering and event management. His career with Marriott spans 20 years. He started as an assistant restaurant manager and has held positions as room service manager, restaurant manager, director of restaurants and catering manager. He also held market positions as Director of Catering at Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa and at the Harbor Beach Resort and Spa. At the corporate level Bruno has held positions as Director of Catering Standards, Sr. Director, Design and Development and Sr. Director, Event Operations.

 

John M. Healy, Regional Vice President Finance, United Kingdom, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International Lodging

John Healy is regional vice president of finance for the United Kingdom, Middle East and Africa for Marriott International’s lodging, a division of Marriott International, Inc. Based in London, he is responsible for operational finance and accounting issues for the UK, Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Healy joined Marriott in 1982 and over the course of his career has held positions of increasing responsibility in accounting and finance. He began his career as the assistant controller at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Resort in Lincolnshire, Illinois in the U.S. Since then, he has served as controller at the Dulles Marriott, the London Marriott and the Cheshunt Marriott hotel in London and, most recently, director of finance at the Marriott Plaza Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Mr. Healy earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting in 1981 from William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia.

   

ROBIN J. ULER, Senior Vice President, Lodging Food & Beverage, Spa and Retail Services, Marriott International, Inc.

Robin Uler serves as senior vice president, lodging food & beverage, spa and retail services for Marriott International, Inc. Ms. Uler is responsible for developing the food & beverage strategy for the company’s portfolio of brands, including Marriott Hotels and Resorts; Renaissance Hotels and Resorts; and Limited Lodging (Residence Inn, Courtyard, Springhill Suites, etc.). Her area of responsibility encompasses the culinary, restaurant, beverage, event management, spa and retail business segments of Marriott International.

Ms. Uler’s career in the hotel business spans over 20 years. Her early years with Marriott International included roles as restaurant manager, director of restaurants, catering manager and food and beverage director. She continued onward as resident manager and general manager before joining the New York Regional Team as Regional Vice President, Operations. She joined the corporate office as Vice President, Food and Beverage in 1995.

   

marcus schoen, Area Director IR MEA, Dubai

Schoen started as Accounting clerk in 1992 in the Frankfurt Marriott Hotels. After different positions as Paymaster, Night Manager, Accounting Manager, Guest Services Manager and Front Desk Manager he have excepted an offer from the PMS Helpdesk (Marriott's Systems before Fidelio) and worked as the International Systems Manager responsible for all Hotels outside of the US (32 at this time in 1996/1997). After the Ramada Renaissance Hotels came to the Marriott portfolio, he moved to the Regional Team in Eschborn Germany and worked as Area Systems Manager and Regional Systems Manager for CE and UKIMEA reporting to John Tattersfield, Regional VP IR CE UKIMEA. Starting 1st of June 2004 Schoen got promoted to Area Director IR MEA based out of Dubai.

Osama Hirzalla, regional vice president, Brand marketing, UKIMEA region

Mr. Hirzalla began his career in the hospitality industry 20 years ago out of which were 15 years with Marriott. In 1990, he joined the Amman Marriott Hotel as a sales manager and  then went on to be part of the pre-opening task force at the Beirut Marriott Hotel. Later, and as a Director of Sales & Marketing for the Amman Marriott Hotel he made a transfer in a similar capacity at JW Marriott Dubai, United Arab Emirates .  After 4 years in that role, he moved to the MEA Area Office in the Capacity of Area Director of Sales & Marketing, and then and as of December 1 st 2004, Regional Vice President of Brand Marketing for the UKIMEA Region.
